My love for cars began the summer before my 16th birthday. I remember seeing my dad drive a 1973 Malibu that I had saved up all my money for down the hill. I was absolutely buzzing with electricity that it was going to be MY car – my car that I was going to experience a whole new world of freedom in. My dad and I worked tirelessly to fix it up, reconfigure its interior to add bucket seats, repaint it, and make it fully “Errol-ready”.

Since then, my career has revolved around working in the automotive industry in several capacities. I first worked as a gas jockey; I’ve haggled and sold cars; I’ve done extensive mechanic work; I’ve helped customers get cars ready for shows; I’ve managed different types of shops—you name it. Along the way, I began to have a deep love for old muscle cars, particularly Corvettes, and restoring them to their vintage condition. And I knew that this was the specific kind of work that I wanted to be doing every day.

I have been ASE certified for over 15 years and have gained a wealth of experience since that ’73 Malibu first came rumbling down the road. But really, I’ve found a job where I still wake up every single day and love the cars I get to work on. I still find tremendous joy and a sense of purpose and accomplishment when I see the looks on our customers’ faces when we’re finished.

I fell in love with cars by accident. As I started my sophomore year at Liberty High school, I realized I needed to find a class to replace one I had dropped. The only class available was an Automotive Technology class. I walked in not really knowing what to expect, but after the first week I was in heaven! This is when and where my interest in cars began. They offered an Automotive Technology I, II, and III and I took advantage of all of them, becoming the instructor’s aid my senior year.

Following high school, I attended Ranken Technical College in Wentzville, MO, where I received my Associate's degree in Technology – Automotive Maintenance. During my time at Ranken working more closely with different cars, I knew I wanted to find a career restoring classic cars.

I have been working in the automotive field my whole life. I am a self-taught mechanic, body tech, and painter. I have many years’ experience in engine work, including:

  • Manual transmission
  • Rear differential
  • Suspension rebuilding

I have specialized in Chevrolet and Corvette restorations. Through the years, I have restored dozens of Corvettes and Camaro. I have also restored or painted many Mustangs and several Mopar vehicles. Several of them have been feature cars in magazines such as Hot Rod, Car Craft, and Popular Hot Rodding. I have restored many NCRS Top Flight Corvettes and Bloomington Gold Corvettes.

I am a NCRS Master Judge and judge as many events as I have time for. Not only that, but I take pride in all my work and attempt to restore all cars to the utmost top level.

Dana Forrester

Dana Forrester began painting his brick wall series in the mid-seventies and won many Regional and National Awards for his focus on weathered and layered advertising signs painted on brick walls. It was truly a unique and direct look at the world, often showing the viewer a subject he had not noticed before.

In the early eighties, Dana was elected as a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society and of the National Watercolor Society, and then began painting full time in 1987.

His world changed a year later when he bought his first Sting Ray Corvette, the car which brought about a change in the subject of his art. He has continued to explore the theme of brick buildings and advertising art, while using the collector automobile as a major element of his work.

Dana creates about ten to twelve major works a year for publication, as well as a number of commissioned watercolors for collectors wanting an original painting of a subject special to them. His paintings are included in many private, corporate, and museum collections worldwide. Currently, he owns three significant Corvettes and has plans for more, a fact that separates Dana from other automotive artists.
